Groot Constantia does not pair their wines with international renowned chocolate brands such as Godiva or Lindt, but with their own chocolatey inventions in rare flavours designed to match with specific wines from their range.

The Groot Constantia 2013 Chardonnay was named the “Best in the World” at the international competition Chardonnay-du-monde, held in France. This Chardonnay-labelled chocolate in the picture has been designed to pair with the Groot Constantia Chardonnay.

With a tangy fresh lemony taste on the palate, this white chocolate blends well with the wine.

Chardonnay shows intense citrus, ranging from fresh lemon to ripe Mandarin orange on the nose, with hints of vanilla and butterscotch.

It is understandable for the wine notes to match with the white chocolate’s own citrus flavours.

Similar properties found in chocolate and wine mean they can have an affinity to each other, so when you pair the right wine with its perfect chocolate partner, the taste is sheer bliss.

Additionally, there is a whole lot wider range of other chocolates available to pair with other wines, like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Shiraz and their prized Gouverneurs Reserve Red. So if you are not a citrus-lover, there are other varieties available to choose from.
